Public Service Announcement Hepatitis B Vaccine Study

Start Date: May 9, 2013

End Date: May 31, 2013

Iqaluit, NU 60 sec

A study is taking place in the Baffin and Kivalliq regions of Nunavut to determine the effectiveness of the hepatitis B vaccine program.

You will be asked if you wish to participate in the study when you are at your local health centre for routine medical tests that require blood samples. It is your choice to participate. Your privacy is assured if you agree to be part of the study. Individual results will not be known, and blood samples are destroyed after testing.

This study is being done by the Nunavut Department of Health, the Public Agency of Canada and the University of Manitoba.

The information from the study will tell the Department of Health how well the hepatitis B vaccination program is working, and how common hepatitis B and C viruses are in Nunavut.
