Public Advisory: Application Deadline Extended for Newfoundland and Labrador Community Transportation Program

Press Release

September 22, 2021

The deadline for applications for the 2021-22 Newfoundland and Labrador Community Transportation Program has been extended to November 19, 2021. Given the ongoing municipal election, this extension will give municipalities more time to learn about the community transportation program and prepare their application.

The Newfoundland and Labrador Community Transportation Program assists incorporated municipalities, not for profits and Indigenous governments and communities, to develop, implement and evaluate inclusive and accessible community-based transportation programs. Successful applicants may receive up to $100,000

Successful projects will enhance and expand community transportation services for people who experience barriers to transportation, including age, ability and geography, often in combination with low income.

The Departments of Children, Seniors and Social Development and Municipal and Provincial Affairs will co-host a webinar on October 14, 2021, to provide an opportunity to learn more about age-friendly community assessments, which includes assessment of community transportation needs. This will be especially beneficial to newly elected officials. Details will be provided at a later date.

To obtain a copy of the program guidelines and application before the new deadline of November 19, 2021, please visit online here or call toll-free 1-888-494-2266.
