Major Community Facilities Program helps to enhance community spirit in Alberta
St. Paul… The Alberta government is contributing $300,000 to expand the clubhouse at the municipally owned St. Paul Golf Club. The grant will help construct a new 3,600 square foot clubhouse. The expansion will provide a larger facility for community functions and allow the St. Paul Golf Club to expand its programs. The clubhouse is almost 25 years old and was not upgraded when the golf course was expanded in 2004.
“This facility will help enrich this community and add to the civic pride that is evident here,” said Lindsay Blackett, Minister of Culture and Community Spirit. “The expanded clubhouse will provide enhanced recreational programs and will be a great place for families and friends to spend time together to help create community spirit.”
“It is very important that we continue to help support and enable local groups that work so hard on important community projects like these,” said Ray Danyluk, MLA for Lac La Biche-St. Paul. “In addition, we are creating a lasting community legacy that residents and visitors alike can enjoy for years to come.”
Funds for this project are provided by the Alberta government’s Major Community Facilities Program. Started in 2007-08, this two-year $280-million community investment program helps municipalities, not-for-profit organizations and Aboriginal communities plan, upgrade or build major public use facilities that enhance community life.
