Apr 25, 2023

Four more people with COVID-19 died on Prince Edward Island within the last month, according to weekly data released Tuesday by the Department of Health and Wellness.

That brings the number of deaths deemed to have been related to COVID-19 to 100 over the course of the pandemic that began in March 2020.

The four deaths reported with this week’s update occurred sometime between late March and mid-April, according to a statement from the Chief Public Health Office.

“Deaths due to COVID-19 are reported to us by long-term care and community care facilities, as well as acute care facilities,” reads the emailed statement. “We also receive from Vital Statistics all death certificates where COVID-19 is listed as either an underlying or contributing cause of death.”
