Premier Announces Investment In Emergency Medical Services In Arborg

ARBORG—A new emergency medical service facility for this community was announced here today by Premier Greg Selinger.

“This government has been working to upgrade emergency medical services throughout the province,” said Selinger. “We have tremendous emergency services personnel who need top-notch facilities to continue providing the high-quality care that communities need.”The new facility will be approximately 2,200 square feet and include two ambulance bays along with staff quarters. A site has been chosen on the grounds of the Arborg and District Health Centre. Preparatory survey work is currently underway with a request for proposals expected to be issued within the next two months.

“This is tremendous news for the whole area. Call volumes have increased and services have changed considerably since the existing building was built,” said Interlake Regional Health Authority CEO Kevin Beresford. “This new facility, with its two bays and on-site staff quarters, will better meet the needs of the community.”

It is anticipated the facility will be operational during the spring of 2011.

Recent provincial investments in emergency medical services
