Peterborough Warming Room director welcomes federal government’s new 10-year national housing program strategy – The Peterborough Examiner

One local housing advocate says the 10-year national housing program that has been promised by the federal government is undeniably necessary for Canada – and for Peterborough.
“There has to be some sort of plan,” says Christian Harvey, the director of the Warming Room.
“It starts with acknowledging that housing is a right,” he said. “We don’t see it as a right – and that’s messed up.”
The warming room is a winter-only emergency shelter that turns no one away. It’s located in the lower level of Murray Street Baptist Church.
