Job Duties:

  • Deliver care for residents in accordance with the plan of care and established policies and procedures.
  • Documents resident care activities in accordance with the facilities policy.
  • Provide direct personal care and assists residents with activities of daily living.
  • Participate as part of an interprofessional team.
  • Answer call signals.
  • Perform bathing, skin care, toileting, mouth care, dressing and undressing.
  • Assist with meals and feeding.
  • Assist with hygiene including shaving, nail and hair care.
  • Make beds, maintain order in the residents’ bedrooms, clean closets and bedside units.
  • Collect and bag soiled linen for dispatch to laundry, sort and store clean linen and residents’ laundry, empty bedpans, remove of unsafe objects, etc.
  • Provide emotional and social support to residents and family members.
  • Record fluid intake and output; observe or monitor residents’ status and document resident care on charts.
  • Facilitate communication between departments.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies.
  • May perform maintenance tasks such as cleaning and sterilizing equipment and setting-up and operating job-related equipment such as mechanical lifts.
  • Porter residents within the facility.

Work conditions and Physical Capabilities:

  • Prolonged standing and walking
  • Regular re-positioning and moving residents, equipment, and supplies
  • Regular stress associated with dealing with resident care needs and time pressures
  • Frequent use of visual and auditory senses in monitoring conditions of residents during care

Skills, Experience and Education Required:

  • Qualifications as outlined in the Long-Term Care Homes Act
  • 1 to 3 years of health care experience

Wage: $19.41 – $20.75

Hours:

7.5 hour shifts, variable schedule, 30 hours weekly, overtime starts after 7.5 hours daily or 75 hours biweekly, day, evening and night shifts available

Benefits:  As per collective agreement. Benefits are not available for part time positions; however, employees receive payment in lieu of benefits.

Vacation:  4% Renumeration
