Peacekeepers continue to investigate threats made against local schools

(Kahnawake – 3, Ohiarí:ha/June 2022) On the afternoon of June 2nd at 15:09, the reception desk at Kateri School received a phone call from an unknown individual who made a threat against the school. Fortunately, classes were already dismissed at the time of the call.

Officers immediately moved to secure the building and ensure the safety of those still inside the school.

At 15:08, Karonhianónhnha school received a suspicious call from the same phone number as the caller to Kateri School. The caller did not say anything, and the receptionist disconnected the call.

The Kahnawake Peacekeepers are investigating the origins of this call with assistance from outside agencies.

The Kahnawake Education Center elected to close all schools under their control as a precaution. Officers are posted at the childcare facilities that remain open.
