Our Health Counts: SOAHAC launches urban Aboriginal research project

SOAHAC is pleased to announce that we have partnered with researchers at the Well Living House (Centre for Research on Inner City Health – St. Michael’s Hospital) in Toronto to launch an exciting research project in London entitled “Our Health Counts London”. Our Health Counts London is a community-based research project that aims to gather missing health information about urban Aboriginal people so that we may improve and expand upon our existing health and social services. Our Health Counts was first developed in 2009 as a partnership between St. Michael’s Hospital and De Dwa Da Dehs Nye>s Aboriginal Health Centre (Hamilton). As a result of the project’s success in Hamilton, SOAHAC has partnered to complete a similar survey with Aboriginal people living, working, or accessing health and/or social services in London. Our survey will be launching October 14th and will be open until further notice. Due to our research method, you may only participate if you receive a coupon from someone that has already completed the survey.

For more information, please contact Katie Big-Canoe (Community Research Coordinator) through e-mail at kbigcanoe@soahac.on.ca, or call/text 226-376-6689.

If you have received a coupon to participate, check out available appointment times on our events calendar.

The results of the Hamilton project can be found at www.ourhealthcounts.ca.
