The Department of Health’s oral health screening for infants and children is taking place in Iqaluit on June 11 and 12. The program, which promotes good oral health to prevent dental illness in children, is available at building 526, beside the former Baffin Regional Hospital.
A dental health team consisting of a dentist and dental assistant will screen infants and children up to age eight. Screening includes checking gums and teeth. Follow-up treatment will be done by a dental therapist or dental hygienist.
Children will receive a free dental kit that includes a toothbrush and toothpaste. All parents/caregivers who bring a child for a dental screening are eligible to enter a draw to win a healthy meal bag.
This initiative is supported by the Government of Nunavut’s Department of Health and Health Canada.
Please call Carla Tobin or Carmen Barrieau at 979-5753 to book an appointment.
