The Ontario government has announced plans to invest $3.9 million to construct a new primary care clinic for the Algonquins of Pikwàkanagàn in Renfrew County. The facility, set to be built on the Pikwàkanagàn Reserve near Golden Lake and the Bonnechere River, aims to enhance access to healthcare services for the local community.
According to government officials, the clinic will improve healthcare accessibility for over 1,000 residents, offering a range of services, including primary care, walk-in clinic services, referrals to specialists, lab testing, prenatal and postnatal care, and chronic disease management.
