Ontario Mental Health Clinic Uses Medicine Wheel To Help New Moms – Huffington Post Canada

It’s one of the few mental health perinatal services for Indigenous families.

An Ontario clinic is now providing mental health counselling and support for new and soon-to-be Indigenous mothers.

Offered by the Chigamik Community Health Centre in Midland, Ont., the recently launched perinatal program serves First Nations, Métis and Inuit families of North Simcoe county for a year or longer. Women who are planning to have a baby and those who have experienced pregnancy-related loss are welcomed, too.

The World Health Organization states that maternal mental health is a worldwide “major public health challenge.”
