The Ontario Lung Association recommends the government of Ontario commit to the development of an Ontario Lung Health Action Plan. This would take a modest investment of $250,000 and staff support from the Ministry of Health and Long-Term
Care.

We recommend immediate action be taken to address the human and economic crisis of lung disease with an investment of $16.3 million to add 200 Certified Respiratory Educators to the primary care system. This investment will realize significant short and long-term health and economic returns.

Finally, as a way to meet government smoking rate and deficit reduction targets, we recommend an immediate increase to tobacco tax rates.
