ONEXONE Ambassador Matt Damon Returns to Toronto for Fourth Annual Benefit Gala and Concert at Historic Maple Leaf Gardens®

Wyclef Jean leads night of sensational musical performances

ONEXONE Foundation is pleased to announce that Academy Award®-winner and ONEXONE Ambassador Matt Damon will return to Toronto for the fourth annual ONEXONE gala and concert on Monday, September 8, 2008 at the legendary Maple Leaf Gardens®, the first major public event in the building since its closure in 2000.Home to the Toronto Maple Leafs from 1931–1999, Maple Leaf Gardens® saw the Leafs win 11 Stanley Cups and it is one of few venues outside of the United States where Elvis Presley performed in concert. It is also the only site to host The Beatles in all three of their North American tours.

Grammy-award winner and founder of the Yéle Haiti Foundation, Wyclef Jean will return to lead the sensational musical performances planned for the evening. The foundation will continue to highlight exceptional young talent including the African Children’s Choir. Further show and concert information will be released closer to date.

In the foundation’s tradition of recognizing individuals who have dedicated their lives to fighting child poverty and suffering around the world, ONEXONE will honour Canadians with its 2008 ONEXONE Difference Award. Those honoured last year include Golden Globe-winner Richard Gere, The Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson, Wyclef Jean, Assembly of First Nations National Chief of Phil Fontaine, Running the Sahara runners Charlie Engle, Ray Zahab and Kevin Lin and Fred and Bonnie Cappuccino, the parents of 21 adopted children and founders of Child Haven International. ONEXONE 2008 honourees will be announced closer to date.

All proceeds raised at the benefit gala go to the ONEXONE Foundation and its philanthropic partners and ongoing initiatives.

Partners include founding partners Diesel and Rogers Communications as well as CTV, The Globe and Mail, iTravel 2000, Pepsi, Sunwing, Fairmont and Black’s Photography.

On June 14, ONEXONE held its inaugural benefit gala in Calgary with Academy Award-winner and ONEXONE evening ambassador Ben Affleck. The foundation is pleased to announce that it is expanding its reach to the United States of America with its inaugural ONEXONE benefit gala in San Francisco, California on October 23. ONEXONE San Francisco will be the third benefit gala on the foundation’s 2008 fundraising schedule.
