Position Summary
Interior Health’s Kamloops Mental Health and Substance Use (MHSU) Services based in Lansdowne Centre, invites applications for the role of Occupational Therapist. We are looking for a knowledgeable Occupational Therapist with experience in identifying and assessing occupational performance issues important to the client considering the client’s personal context, valued occupations and environmental strengths, and resources utilizing an evidence-based approach.Kamloops MHSU and partner agencies provide a range of mental health and substance use services for all ages striving to ensure that services are welcoming of all peoples, gender identities, cultures, ethnicities and backgrounds. As the Occupational Therapist position you will work within MHSU completing in-clinic as well as community visits. The Occupational Therapist works independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary MHSU team providing community occupational therapy services including assessment, treatment planning and implementation, program planning, consultation, equipment prescription and education of clients and/or their caregivers to promote functional independence and enable the client to achieve and maintain optimal health outcomes.

Reporting to the Occupational Therapy Professional Practice Leader, the Occupational Therapist will draw upon her/his ability to implement occupational therapy services utilizing diverse intervention approaches by carrying out the plan, engaging the client in activities associated with occupational roles and the client’s goals, assessing and modifying the implementation, and identifying completion criteria to promote, develop, maintain and/or restore occupational potential. It is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the organization and the overall goals of the MHSU services team and provide work direction to the rehabilitation assistants working with the team in regard to transfer of function.

This position is to provide coverage until February 2021, or until the return of incumbent. Local travel is required in this role within the surrounding area. Access to personal vehicle will be required; a valid Driver’s License is necessary. This position is eligible for our comprehensive benefits plan that includes coverage for basic Medical Services, Dental Services, and Extended Health. Hourly rate of pay will be determined by relative and recent prior work experience.

Qualifications
Education, Training and Experience:
• Graduation from a recognized occupational therapy program.
• Current registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of British Columbia (COTBC). Eligible for membership in the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists or British Columbia Society of Occupational Therapists.
• Valid BC Driver’s license.Skills and Abilities:

• Teamwork: Demonstrated ability to foster teamwork and a commitment to excellence in the provision of client care.
• Equipment: Demonstrated computer skills including the use of Meditech and Windows based programs. Demonstrated data analysis skills including appropriate data analysis and reporting tools. Demonstrated ability in the use of e-mail and word processing. Ability to operate other related equipment as required in the specific practice area.
