“FULL CIRCLE ~ BREAKING THE CYCLE OF DRUG USE” PROJECT
BACKGROUND
NunatuKavut (LMN) has received a three-year contribution agreement through Health Canada to undertake an illicit drug awareness and prevention project. The proposed initiative plans to engage the youth in drug awareness, through information and/or learning sessions in the communities from Cartwright to Lodge Bay. The overall goal of this project is to have youth play a more active role in developing and implementing a plan to engage “hard to reach youth” in their community.NunatuKavut is seeking to hire an external evaluator to conduct the process and outcome evaluation for this project. The process and outcome evaluation will specify if we achieved what we have set out to do with the funding received from Health Canada. .
In addition to the process and outcome evaluation, the contracted evaluator, in consultation with the staff and the advisory committee, as well as the partners, will develop a plan to measure the short and long-term outcome of the project. It is hoped that the community drug strategy project will lead to: 1) Youth having a sense of pride and ownership in the information that they will be developing; 2) better use of available resources; 3) alternatives to drug use identified and promoted; and, 4) a network of youth supporting youth throughout the region; 4) mobilization individuals beyond the project to continue initiative.
