NunatuKavut contributes $5,000 to Diabetes Canada

September 26, 2017

NCC today announced a $5,000 contribution to Diabetes Canada (formerly the Canadian Diabetes Association) through Liz’s Walk.

Liz’s Walk is a cause started by Guy Poole over 12 years ago in memory of his wife, Elizabeth (Liz) Poole, who lost her life to complications from diabetes. Each year, he walks approximately 300 kilometres in different parts of Labrador and on the island of Newfoundland to raise awareness and money for diabetes research and to help find a cure.

This year, Guy completed a 297-kilometre journey on the Northern Peninsula branch roads (Plum Point and north) between September 16 and 25. He was joined by NCC President Todd Russell at a closing meet and greet event in St. Lunaire-Griquet on September 25. At that time, President Russell presented Guy with NCC’s contribution cheque.
