NTI Applauds Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami’s commitment to eliminate Tuberculosis by 2030

(March 23, 2018 – Iqaluit, Nunavut) Nunavut Tunngavik Inc. (NTI) President Aluki Kotierk, on the eve of World TB Day, noted Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami’s (ITK) announcement and commitment to eliminate tuberculosis across Inuit Nunangat by 2030, aiming for a 50% reduction of active TB by 2025.

“NTI applauds the commitment to tackle such a complex and multi-faceted issue to eradicate tuberculosis among Inuit. NTI will work with ITK to achieve this goal”, said Kotierk.

The 2018 Federal budget allocated $27.5 million over 5 years to eliminate TB across Inuit Nunangat. NTI will continue working with ITK at the Inuit TB Elimination Task Force.
