Notice to Residents: Confirmed COVID-19 case on Capilano IR #5

Following a notification pathway developed jointly between Vancouver Coastal Health and the First Nations Health Authority developed specifically for use in First Nations communities, this notice is to inform residents of a confirmed case of COVID-19 on Capilano IR #5.
There is no need for panic at this time. The patient is informed and receiving care. As per public health protocols, all close contacts are already in isolation and being tested.
Out of respect for patient confidentiality, we have not received any personal information about who has been affected. We ask that community members do their best not to react or respond to any rumours.
We would like to commend the good work our community members have been doing to keep themselves, their families, and our community safe.
Cases are on the rise again province-wide, so there are increased chances of there being positive cases around us. We should all be following and continuing to promote public safety measures. Some of these include:
- Maintain a small “bubble” of close contacts.
- Clean your hands often. Use soap and water, or an alcohol-based hand rub.
- Maintain a safe distance from anyone who is coughing or sneezing.
- Wear a mask when physical distancing is not possible.
- Don’t touch your eyes, nose or mouth.
- Cover your nose and mouth with your bent elbow or a tissue when you cough or sneeze.
- Stay home if you feel unwell.
