Nicole Bourque-Bouchier appointed new Chair of the Wood Buffalo Community Foundation

(Fort McMurray, AB ) – The Wood Buffalo Community Foundation (WBCF) is pleased to announce the appointment of Nicole Bourque-Bouchier as its new chair, effective June 17, 2024.

WBCF is a registered charity that supports Fort McMurray Wood Buffalo by providing grants to local charities, addressing various community needs in health, environment, sports, arts, and social services, ensuring sustainable, long-term funding for impactful local initiatives.

Nicole Bourque-Bouchier is an award-winning leader, philanthropist, and advocate for her community. The co-owner and CEO of Bouchier, an industry leader in Facility and Construction Services, was recently honored with Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee Medal and named RBC’s 2022 CEO Excellence Award. Under her leadership, Bouchier has flourished into one of the largest Indigenous-owned businesses in the country, employing more than 1,200 people, with 40% self-identifying as Indigenous from 80 Indigenous communities.

“Nicole’s unwavering dedication to our community and region inspires us all,” says WBCF’s outgoing chair Anthony (Tony) Mankowski. “We are confident that through her guidance and experience, we can truly enhance the well-being and resilience of our community to reach new heights.”

Bourque-Bouchier is deeply committed to giving back, investing more than 7 million dollars over the past several years to support youth and recreation, female empowerment, and culture and community.
