Niagara Anti-Racism Association endorses call for coroner’s inquest in death of Indigenous woman – St. Catharines Standard

Calls for a more formal investigation into the death of an Indigenous woman at Niagara Health’s St. Catharines Site have been increased.

The Niagara Region Anti-Racism Association endorsed the call for a coroner’s inquest into Heather Winterstein’s death and for the creation of “Heather’s Law,” which would guarantee the rights of Indigenous people seeking emergency health care. Winterstein’s family and the Niagara Chapter – Native Women Inc. made the call, which has also been endorsed by the Fort Erie Native Friendship Centre.
