Press Release
May 23, 2025
The Department of Health’s Medical Travel Division, in collaboration with the Office of Patient Relations, is pleased to announce the release of the Nunavut Medical Travel Handbook, an updated and user-friendly guide designed to provide a seamless experience, so medical travelers stay informed and comfortable.
This handbook provides clear, practical guidance to support medical travelers throughout each stage of their journey, from preparing for appointments and knowing what to pack, to navigating flights and accommodations, and understanding insurance coverage. It also answers frequently asked questions and includes checklists, tips and other helpful tools.
Created with both clients and their medical travel coordinators in mind, this resource is designed to empower Nunavummiut with the knowledge and confidence needed to travel safely and smoothly for care outside their home communities.
The Nunavut Medical Travel Handbook is available in all official languages. You can download a digital copy from the Government of Nunavut website or pick up a hard copy at your local health centre.
We encourage all Nunavummiut who are planning or anticipating medical travel to make use of this valuable tool to help ensure a more positive and prepared experience.
