New Indigenous health and healing centre opens doors in Winnipeg – Winnipeg Sun

A brand new Indigenous health and healing centre has opened its doors in Winnipeg.

On Friday, a grand opening ceremony was held for the Anishininew Minoyawigumik Health and Healing Centre, at 1880 Ellice Ave.

The centre, which comes out of a partnership between Island Lake Tribal Council and Four Arrows Regional Health Authority, as well as First Nations communities Garden Hill, Red Sucker Lake, St. Theresa Point, and Wasagamack, will provide more than 15,000 Island Lake residents the opportunity to access medical, dental and pharmaceutical services.

“With over 15,000 citizens, Island Lake represents a membership equaling the third largest city in Manitoba.” said a statement released Friday by Island Lake Tribal Council Inc. and Four Arrows Regional Health Authority.
