New cases in Iqaluit push Nunavut’s COVID-19 caseload to 67 – Nunatsiaq News

Outbreak continues to grow in capital; no change in Kinngait and Rankin Inlet

Nunavut had 67 active cases of COVID-19 as of Friday, as 11 new cases were reported in Iqaluit, Premier Joe Savikataaq announced in a tweet.

All of the new cases are in Iqaluit. There were five recoveries to report, Savikataaq said, bringing the capital’s total number of active cases to 61.

No new cases nor any recoveries were reported in Kinngait, where there are four active cases, or in Rankin Inlet, where there are two.

Savikataaq, Health Minister Lorne Kusugak and chief public health officer Dr. Michael Patterson held a news conference at the legislative assembly Friday morning to update Nunavummiut on the situation.
