NAN: The Hope in the Darkness Walk

The Hope in the Darkness Walk for Youth Mental Health is a national walk that began on April 1 from the east coast in Cape Spear, St. John’s, Newfoundland and on May 15 from the west coast in Masset, Haida Gwaii, and British Columbia. Police officers, young people, mental health workers and families from across Canada are joining in the walk by walking for an hour, a day, a week and even months to raise awareness for youth mental health.

The Hope in the Darkness Walk for Youth Mental Health has several main goals:

  • To bring attention and raise awareness of youth mental health in Canada.
  • To provide a platform for Indigenous youth mental health success stories to be shared.
  • To rally active/retired police officers to get involved in empowering youth.
  • To raise funds to support culture-based youth mental health services across Canada.

On July 13, 2018 everyone is invited to join Kevin in part of the WALK starting at 8:30 am at Robin’s Donut’s (corner of Arthur and May) to the Airlane Hotel, where transportation will be available to MOUNT MCKAY LOOKOUT (POWWOW GROUNDS)

ONWA will be providing school bus transportation to the event as follows:

Pick up locations, Buses leave at: 380 Ray Blvd at 9:30 am, City Hall at 9:45 am, & Airlane at 10:00 am.
