NAN says COVID-19 case found in Eabametoong First Nation –

Grand Chief Alvin Fiddler calls for immediate help, personal protective equipment for remote, northern community.

EABAMETOONG FIRST NATION — Matawa First Nation says COVID-19 has landed in Eabametoong First Nation.

Matawa officials made the announcement on Sunday and Nishnawbe Aski Nation Grand Chief Alvin Fiddler later called for immediate help to fight the virus, which has infected more than one million people world wide.
“I am issuing an urgent request to Ontario (and) Canada to help quickly respond with additional test kits, adequate PPE’s and other essential supplies. We need to act fast,” Fiddler wrote on Twitter.
