Media Release:
Ottawa (May 7, 2012) – The National Aboriginal Health Organization (NAHO) invites First Nations communities to tune in to better health with Radio NAHO. Radio NAHO is a series of inspiring talks by some of Canada’s leading First Nations thinkers in the areas of traditional healing, healthy living, youth, environmental health, children’s health, and chronic diseases.
Interested in hearing what a hereditary chief and knowledge keeper of the Mi’kmaq culture, a PhD student studying intergenerational trauma, and a hip hop artist combining the Cree language with urban beats have to say about traditional healing? Tune in on Monday, May 7, 2012 to find out. This first of six episodes will be webcast at www.naho.ca/radio and broadcast by participating radio stations.“Radio is a major part of First Nations people’s lives. It’s a thread that ties many communities together, and it’s often how people get their information,” says NAHO’s A/CEO Simon Brascoupe. “Radio NAHO was created to give health information to First Nations people, directly into their homes, where they make most of their health choices.”
NAHO – a leader in creating and sharing evidence-based research on First Nations, Inuit and Métis health with communities, health providers and partner organizations.
