MNO Sgt-at-Arms participates in Addictions and Mental Health Week in Moosonee – MNO

As a Sergeant with the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) Veterans’ Council Sergeant-at-Arms Rob Baskey has always been very involved in the northern community of Moosonee. His work continues to bring awareness to Métis people and help promote the MNO Veterans’ Council.

Last November, the Aboriginal Peoples Alliance of Northern Ontario (APANO)—a non-profit charitable organization that provide services for Indigenous peoples, sponsored a week of events to bring awareness to addictions and mental health in the Moosonee area.

One of these events was a charity hockey game between the Moosonee Fire Department and the OPP, which included Baskey on their roster. The event took place on November 13, 2016 and began with a community breakfast. As admission to the hockey game, the OPP collected non-perishable food items, which were then donated to the Moosonee Native Friendship Centre Christmas Food Drive. Moosonee Deputy Mayor John Moore opened the hockey game with a ceremonial puck drop.
