STATEMENT FROM THE MISSISSAUGAS OF THE CREDIT FIRST NATION ON COVID-19

March 23, 2020

The MCFN Chief and Council are actively taking precautions and actions to address the potential impacts of COVID-19 in our community. The working group has met again this afternoon to discuss precautions to curb the spread of this virus.

Effective IMMEDIATELY, all MCFN playgrounds and recreational facilities are deemed CLOSED. Please be mindful that this is essential, as studies have shown that the COVID-19 germs can remain on these surfaces for up to 9 days.

This past week, food care packages were delivered to all MCFN households. If you received your package in a MCFN blue recycling box, please ensure this box is empty and placed either at the end of the road or on your step for pick up on Thursday morning. We are planning on doing another food delivery in the coming weeks.

Please note that at this time, all garbage and recycling services will remain status quo.

The COVID-19 Group will be meeting again on Wednesday to discuss the provincial shutdown update and impacts on the First Nation.

The off-reserve gift card process has now changed. Please call 905-768-1133 or, email [email protected] or [email protected] to request a card for your household. All callers will need to identify who resides in their household and must confirm their mailing address. Please be patient as we are working to mail the cards out ASAP.

A communications list is being created to share information with the membership who do not have access to the internet. Pending you have consented to sharing your email address/personal information on your community wellness, you will be added in to this list.
