Métis Nation British Columbia is pleased to announce the Provincial Health Forum, Leading the way to a
Healthier Métis Nation in British Columbia. The Forum will be in held in Richmond at the Hilton Vancouver
Airport Hotel from March 13-15, 2009.The MNBC Ministry of Health is pleased to sponsor a minimum of one delegate from each Chartered Métis Community, as well as Métis students studying in a health care field, and Métis health care professionals (ex: LPN’s or RN’s). The deadline for registration is Thursday, March 5, 2009. Please send all completed registration forms to Brittaney Katernick at bkaternick@mnbc.ca or by fax to 604-801-5097.

Forum Overview:
What is the Leading the Way to a Healthier Métis Nation in British Columbia Provincial Health Forum?
This purpose of this Forum is to create an opportunity for dialogue, discussion and learning between Métis people, Métis health care professionals, Health Authority Aboriginal Leads, the Ministry of Health Services and the Ministry of Healthy Living and Sport. This Forum will also be a Métis Nation British Columbia (MNBC) tool to recruit Métis health care professionals for five newly formed MNBC Regional Health Coordinators positions.
The Forum is designed to:
• Educate and Inform
– Métis, other Aboriginal and mainstream healthcare professionals about current Métis realities and health disparities.
– Métis people about existing programs and services available to them
– All delegates about the MNBC Ministry of Health Five-Year implementation plans
• Build Relationships
– Connect Métis communities and Health Authorities
– Connect Métis healthcare professionals with the MNBC Ministry of Health
– Provide links and networks between key providers that will assist in improving the health status of Métis people
• Recruit
– Create awareness of the opportunities available in MNBC’s Ministry of Health
– Attract Métis health professionals and students to the Métis Nation British Columbia as a potential employer
