Métis Wellbeing Program launched – Cochrane Times Post

May 30, 2017

The Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) believes in promoting a healthy and whole family by delivering prevention-focused, culture-based support to their citizens and communities.

With the hiring of 29 Métis Family Wellbeing Program Coordinators across the province they are introducing a program that does just that.

Tracy Kerr is the local MFWB coordinator. She is working to develop these programs to reduce violence in families and communities, as well as improve child and youth outcomes over their lifetime.

According to their leaflet, the program is geared to reduce the number of Indigenous children and youth in the child welfare and youth justice system; reduce the occurrence of family violence and improve the overall health and wellbeing of communities.
