Memo

To:                              MKO Chiefs

From:                         MKO Grand Chief Garrison Settee

Date:                          April 30, 2020

Subject:                    Misipawistik Cree Nation (MCN) check point on Highway 6

I have been advised by Chief Harold Turner that MCN’s check point will remain in place until at least May 20, 2020, if not longer. As previously mentioned, MKO is in support of these efforts to help prevent the pandemic from entering our communities and territory.

MCN’s initiative to establish a check point to stop non-essential travel to the community and the MKO region is vital to containing the virus. We are living in unprecedented times and must take extraordinary measures to protect our citizens.
