Homeward Trust to Conduct Count of Edmonton’s Homeless

Edmonton – On Tuesday, October 16, from 5:00 am – 10:00 pm, over 300 volunteers will be spanning throughout the city to count Edmonton’s homeless population.

Homeward Trust’s biennial Homeless Count is a point-in-time count that enables the monitoring changes and trends of the homeless population.

In 2010, the count identified 2421 Edmontonians without a place to call home, which was a 21 percent decrease from 3079 individuals counted in 2008.

Homeward Trust invites all media to attend a briefing and overview of the event.

Date: Tuesday, October 16th
Time: 9:30am
Location: Cunningham Place, 9330 – 104 Ave.

The event is scheduled to take place on the front lawn. In case of inclement weather, it will be moved inside to D-Block; there will be signs directing media.

Susan McGee, CEO of Homeward Trust, will provide remarks and be available for questions. There will be the opportunity for media to film or photograph volunteers throughout the day. Street parking, and parking behind the building, is available.
