Media Alert – CMA to release its 12th Annual Report Card

Ottawa, Aug. 10, 2012 – The Canadian Medical Association (CMA) will release its 12th Annual National Report Card on Health Care in Canada on Monday, Aug. 13, 2012.

The 2012 Report Card focuses on a series of questions about Canadians’ health status, their knowledge and awareness of how to be healthy, and their lifestyle habits as they relate to their health. They were also asked an extensive series of demographic questions related to the social determinants of health.

The report shows a disconcerting connection between the health of Canadians and their income.

For an embargoed copy of the 2012 Report Card, please email Dominique Jolicoeur, Communications Officer at [email protected] or call her at 613-731-8610 / 800-663-7336 ext. 2038.

To arrange embargoed interviews with CMA spokespeople, please email Lucie Boileau, Senior Advisor, Communications and Public Outreach at [email protected] or call her at 613-447-0866.

The embargo will be lifted Monday, Aug. 13 at 12:01 a.m. EDT.

The CMA communications office will relocate to Yellowknife during the association’s annual meeting August 13 to 15. The office will be open from August 10 to 15. To reach a CMA representative, members of the media can call 867-766-7859.
