Media Advisory – Children with Special Needs to Take the Magic Carpet Ride of a Lifetime

Dreams Take Flight to give 125 physically, mentally and/or socially challenged children from the Ottawa region one magical day at Walt Disney World, Florida!

Ottawa, Sept. 26, 2011 – On Wednesday, September 28th children that are physically, mentally and/or socially challenged will take off on a one-day magic carpet ride to Walt Disney World, Florida. This dream come true for approximately 125 children is made possible by more than 95 volunteers from the Ottawa Chapter of Dreams Take Flight, a non-profit volunteer organization run by Air Canada employees, retirees, family and friends. Dreams Take Flight provides everything the children could ever need, including transportation, medical care, entry into Disney’s Magic Kingdom, meals and even souvenirs! Arrival of the children at Canada Reception Centre: 4:15 a.m.
Boarding: 5:00 a.m.
Departure from Ottawa: 5:30 a.m.
Return to Canada Reception Centre: 11:53 p.m.

[Directions – From Hunt Club and Riverside: Travel East on Hunt Club. Travel 0.8 km and turn right onto Canadair Private (near Tim Horton’s and Day’s Inn). WHO: Approximately 125 children from the Ottawa/Gatineau region, selected through local agencies such as Big Brothers Big Sisters Ottawa, Ottawa Inuit Children’s Centre, Maison de la Famille Vallée-de-la-Lièvre et le Centre d’animation familiale.
