MCK: State of Recovery extended for 30 days

(Kahnawake – 16, Kentenhkó:wa/November 2021) The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke wishes to inform the community that the current State of Recovery for the COVID-19 pandemic has been extended for a thirty (30) day period from November 19 to December 18, 2021.

The Mohawk Council Executive Directive was passed by Consensus at yesterday’s duly-convened Council meeting.

As per the Kahnawà:ke Emergency Preparedness Law, until the community is in a state of normalcy the State of Recovery will be reviewed every thirty days, and renewed as needed. The Public Safety Commission will maintain authority and continue working together with Kahnawà:ke Public Health in monitoring risk, the impacts of reopening phases on community health and well-being, and the overall state of the pandemic. The Kahnawà:ke Public Health team will continue to act as the authority on measures required to maintain overall health & safety in the community. Together with Kahnawà:ke Public Health, the Commission will continue to adapt measures to meet the specific needs of Kahnawà:ke.

The Commission, and/or Kahnawà:ke Public Health and/or the Mohawk Council will continue to provide important information regarding the pandemic on a timely basis, as needed.
