Press Release

(Kahnawake – 4, Kentenhkó:wa/November 2021) The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke wishes to advise community members of a fund created to support Indian Day School (IDS) Survivors. The IDS Legacy Fund will support Survivors, their families and communities through projects and initiatives under four (4) key themes: language & culture; healing & wellness; commemoration; and truth telling.

The McLean Day Schools Settlement Corporation (MDSSC) is seeking Survivor input to better determine how this Legacy Fund should be administered and implemented. Due to COVID -19 safety protocols, no more than 15 people will be able to participate in this session.

Additionally, a second engagement event will be held virtually. It will take place on Thursday, November 18th from 1 to 5pm, with up to 35 spots available.

IMPORTANT: Please contact Kahnawà:ke’s Indian Day Schools Settlement Coordinator Louise Mayo to confirm a spot, or for details and further information on this initiative. She can be reached at 514-793-0662 or at [email protected]
