Manitoba reports one death, 461 new cases Sunday, positivity rate still on rise – Winnipeg Sun

Manitoba announced one additional death and 461 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday as the province’s positivity rate continued to spike.

The death is in a man in his 80s from Southern Health and brings the provincial death toll to 1,029.

The current five-day COVID-19 test positivity rate is 14.5% provincially and 16.7% in Winnipeg. The provincial rate was up from Saturday’s pandemic-high of 14.3% with Winnipeg’s rate down slightly from 16.8%, but it was the third consecutive day that it had been above 16%.

Of the new cases, 299 were from Winnipeg with 76 from Southern, 31 from Prairie Mountain, 30 from Northern and 25 from Interlake-Eastern. That brings the total number of lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba to 48,436.
