Manitoba Government Returns to Session with Plan to Continue to Lower Costs and Improve Health Care

The Manitoba government will present a legislative agenda focused on helping Manitobans with cost of living and health care, government house leader Nahanni Fontaine announced today.

“With a big project like Churchill Plus on the horizon, Manitobans are feeling hopeful for the future, but we know there is much more to do when it comes to helping families today,” said Fontaine. “Our team is using all the levers of government to lower the cost of living and make health care better.”

Upcoming legislation will deliver on commitments made in the throne speech, which includes a patient safety charter, ending mandatory overtime for nurses and introducing nurse-to-patient ratios.

The 2026 budget will be introduced on March 24, which will also contain measures to help Manitobans with the cost of living and continue to make investments that grow the economy and improve health care. Other legislation to be introduced this session will strengthen mental health services in Manitoba, create a new Crown-Indigenous corporation and make communities safer by getting dangerous weapons off the streets.
