THUNDER BAY – Long Lake #58 First Nation and Ginoogaming First Nation will be leading their annual healing walk in honor of people we have lost to Drugs/ Alcohol Addictions, Cancer, Missing Women/Men, Residential School/ Day School Survivors/ Descendants, Land, Water & Air, and Racism.

“Within two weeks, our communities felt the pain of many unnecessary deaths. We are hurt, and through this walk, prayer and the strength of our creator, we will start the journey to healing that is much needed for all of us,” says Cecil Mendowegan, an NNDAP Worker from Ginoogaming First Nation.

Cecil said they are gathering to start this walk on July 15, to raise awareness for these very important issues. “We have lost too many lives that we did not need to and hope that more people do not need to suffer before we make the changes necessary.”
