Local midwives get funding boost – Brantford Expositor

July 9, 2019

More money is being set aside by the province to support local midwives.

MPP Will Bouma announced Tuesday the government is investing an additional $207,389 this year for midwifery services in Brantford-Brant.

It is part of an investment of an additional $28 million to expand midwifery services across Ontario, which Bouma said will help up to 3,400 families access additional choice in primary care during pregnancy, birth and postpartum.

Ontario is also working to expand the scope of practice for midwives to allow them to prescribe more medications to clients.
