Life with Arthritis in Canada: A Personal and Public Health Challenge

The Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) today released Life with Arthritis in Canada: A Personal and Public Health Challenge.

This is the first national surveillance report on arthritis to be released by PHAC and was prepared in collaboration with The Arthritis Society of Canada, Arthritis Consumer Experts, Canadian Arthritis Network, Arthritis Community Research and Evaluation Unit, Canadian Arthritis Patients Alliance, Statistics Canada and the Canadian Institute for Health Information.More than 4.2 million Canadians live with arthritis and the number is expected to climb as the population ages. The Government of Canada invested more than $20.5 million in arthritis-related research in 2009-10 and continues to work with key stakeholders on ways to prevent the disease and provide a better quality of life for those afflicted.
