First and foremost we would like to thank all physicians who choose to work and live in Northwestern Ontario. The live-saving and difficult work you do every day is an integral part of our social infrastructure and we are all better because of it.
Before politics, we spent our whole adult lives fighting for fairness, and we’re not about to stop now. Having been, respectively, a public health professional, doctor and a lawyer, we understand that fair societies are healthier and more cohesive societies. This is why, in government, we work every day to build the kind of country where everybody has a real and fair chance at success.
In the weeks since Finance Minister Bill Morneau started consultations with Canadians about our proposal to make the tax system fairer, there has been a large amount of misinformation and fear that has been circulating, particularly surrounding small business, the middle class and doctors.
