It’s not as if we don’t know that there are a lot of homeless people living outside. Treating them like garbage to be cleaned up is shameful.
Imagine, snow covers the ground, it’s -40 C and you are living in a small tent encampment in Edmonton when the police arrive, tear down the tents and order you to move on.
Move on to where? If you are still living outside when a dangerously cold blanket of Arctic air has engulfed the city, any other options must have been much worse. But the Edmonton Police Service forcibly pushed people out anyway in what was surely one of the cruelest displays of authority the city has witnessed.
