Larga Kitikmeot Opens In Yellowknife

Larga Kitikmeot, a new 56 bed medical boarding home in Yellowknife, and a joint venture between Nunasi Corporation and Kitikmeot Corporation (KC), opened on December 2nd, 2009.This facility is for medical patients requiring medical care in Yellowknife, when travelling from the Kitikmeot Region (and from other parts of Nunavut). It is located at the corner of Franklin Avenue and Matonabe Street, near the downtown core.

The facility will be operated by the Nunasi/KC joint venture corporation. Casey Adlem is the General Manager.

This new boarding home doubles the capacity of the original facility, which was used by people from the Kitikmeot Region for over 20 years.

The Grand Opening of the complex is expected to happen in June, with possible attendance by the federal Health Minister Leona Aglukkaq.
