First Nation near Sioux Lookout has confirmed 11 cases, ordering a code red lockdown.

LAC SEUL FIRST NATION – The Lac Seul First Nation is under a “code red lockdown” as it fights a growing COVID-19 outbreak.

There are now 11 active cases in the First Nation, which is located about 40 kilometres northwest of Sioux Lookout and has an on-reserve population of around 860.

The Sioux Lookout First Nations Health Authority declared an outbreak in the community on Friday, when eight cases had been detected.

Under the code red lockdown, members are directed only to leave their homes for essential reasons, such as picking up groceries or medication, attending medical appointments, or getting exercise outdoors.
