KO Telemedicine Meets with Brazilian Delegation

The staff of KOTM had an opportunity to meet with a delegation from Brazil. Ana Haddad, a Director within the Brazil Ministry of Health, Wanderley Guenka, a Director of the Department of Indigenous Health, Marivand Pinto,International Affairs Advisor and Humberto Alves, from the Federal University of Medicine were at the Canadian Society of Telehealth’s annual conference in Ottawa to learn about the advancements of Telemedicine in Canada, with a focus on Indigenous Telemedicine.KO Telemedicine and the Ontario Telemedicine Network demonstrated Telemedicine in action by connecting with the KOTM site in Kingfisher Lake and the OTN site in Timmins. The delegation was impressed with the advancements made around First Nations Telemedicine applications. Geordi Kakepetum, the KO Executive Director has invited the delegation to come to KO where they can see first hand how technology is impacting health care for First Nations.
