Kimmirut Health Centre remains open to emergencies

The Department of Health is advising residents of Kimmirut that the community health centre remains open for emergencies and urgent same-day appointments.

This extension is to ensure staff have sufficient time to recover and rest after the emergency response to the community-wide power outage. This time will also allow staff to perform necessary tests on equipment that has been without power, or on generator power, to ensure it is in working order.

The community will be notified as soon as full service is resumed. In the meantime, all routine appointments will be rescheduled, and patients will be contacted with new information.

The Department of Health is working with government and territorial partners to ensure Nunavummiut have access to necessary health services.
