Curve Lake First Nation, Hiawatha First Nation and Alderville First Nation will be receiving education and prevention support on human trafficking and exploitation through a new project of the Kawartha Sexual Assault Centre (KSAC), which was announced Thursday.
Using $55,000 in provincial funding, KSAC will collaborate with Niijkiwendidaa Anishnaabekwewag Services Circle (NASC) in Peterborough to offer events, conferences and workshops in the local First Nations communities, Peterborough-Kawartha MPP Dave Smith and Haliburton-Kawartha-Brock MPP Laurie Scott announced.
With the support of both KSAC and NASC, there will also be support and services for individuals who are survivors of human trafficking, current victims of human trafficking and supports to prevent others at risk of human trafficking.
