Press Release

05 January 2023

Due to the recent surge in COVID-19 cases in the Qikiqtaaluk region, effective January 5, 2023, Iqaluit Health Services will be implementing a no-visitor policy. In certain circumstances, clients will be allowed one escort.

The following clients receiving inpatient care are permitted one escort:

  • Minors.
  • Obstetrical clients during active labour.
  • Palliative care clients.
  • Clients, such as elders requiring support or interpretation.

For all other sections of Iqaluit Health Services, only the client will be attending the care area, unless the client is a minor or requires supportive assistance.

Otherwise, visitors and escorts will not be permitted at this time.

Please note that masks are mandatory in all clinical areas by IHS employees, clients and visitors.
